Here's a great way to eat broccoli! Spice it up with a spicy cheese sauce, stick them in the dehydrator and have a wonderful, tasty snack. We wanted to see how broccoli would do in the dehydrator and we weren't disappointed. They turned out so tasty and crunchy. If you don't want them too spicy, you can leave out the cayenne but I would definitely keep the chili powder. These don't take as long to dry as kale chips but are just as good. So if you're looking for a healthy, easy snack; try these broccoli bites!


1 head of broccoli or more depending on how much sauce you have (cut in bite sized pieces)

1/2 cup hemp seeds

2 carrots, peeled and chopped

1/4 cup nutritional yeast

1 clove garlic

1 large red pepper

1T tahini

1T chili powder

2t onion powder

1/2t garlic powder

1/2t cayenne pepper (opt)

pinch or two of turmeric

1 1/4t sea salt

1/3 cup or more water (depending on your blender)

Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender except for broccoli until smooth. Just add enough water to make a thick sauce. You don't want the sauce to be too thin or it won't cover the broccoli. This makes quite a bit of sauce so you can also use it with kale and make kale chips.

Pour the sauce over your broccoli and put them on a mesh tray lined with parchment paper. I didn't use parchment paper the first time and it made quite the mess on the mesh screen and it was hard to clean! Dehydrate at 145 degrees for one hour and turn down to 115 degrees for several hours. These don't take as long as the kale chips. If you take the broccoli out and they don't stay crunchy, stick them back in and dehydrate longer until nice and crisp. Store in a glass jar.
