This week Kristy & I decided to share our smoothie recipes that we make each day with you as we've been asked many times about how to go about making smoothies. We both make different ones; Kristy makes hers in the morning for breakfast and I make mine to take to work with me and eat it for lunch. Kristy's is a pretty basic smoothie recipe, so you can add additional ingredients to it if you wish. My smoothie recipe we'll share in our second video this week will be totally different than Kristy's. That's the great thing about smoothies. You make them to fit your needs and likes. I definitely would change out the coffee substitute as I don't drink coffee of any sort whether real or substitute. If it seems too bitter for you, just add more sweetener or decrease the amount of cacao or coffee. If you're used to drinking coffee, you'll probably think this recipe is just fine but I found it to be a bit bitter; however, Kristy thought it was quite sweet! That just shows you how our taste buds can be quite different so adjust to your likes.

Serves 1

3/4th cup milk
1 tbs flax meal
1 tbs cacao or cocoa powder
2 tsp instant coffee or coffee substitute
1/4 cup oats
Handful of spinach
A splash of honey or a few spoonfuls of applesauce (to taste)
1 1/2 frozen bananas, slightly thawed

Blend everything except the bananas until smooth, then add the bananas and blend until creamy.
