We wanted to switch things up a bit and seeing how much we love our dogs we thought we'd share our favorite dog treats recipe.
Watch till the end to see the pups chow down!
I love to give our dogs healthy treats and this is one they love. It's super easy and really good for them. You have a couple options here:
- 1 sweet potato, peeled and cut
- 1/2 beet, peeled and cut
- 2 cups soaked & or sprouted buckwheat, or 2 cups cooked oatmeal
- 1T coconut oil
- 1/4-1/2 cup water (only if using buckwheat)
Steam sweet potato and beet until soft. Place in blender and add rest of ingredients. Add in enough water (if using buckwheat) to blend. You don't want it too thin, though, as you will spread this on a silicone lined mesh tray. Dehydrate at 145 degrees for one hour, then turn down to 115 degrees until firm. Once firm, take off silicone sheet and place directly on mesh tray. Dehydrate until crisp. Break in pieces and store in covered container. You can try dehydrating in oven at low temperature until crisp. (Mine turned out much better using the dehydrator).
The texture is a lot different using oatmeal. Kristy actually tried them, and she liked the ones with the oatmeal a whole lot better than the buckwheat. Our dogs don't care and love either. I use the buckwheat, because it's a healthier option and it's gluten free. You'll have to watch the video to see how much our dogs love these treats!
